Vatican City: Pope Francis has reportedly said that people who give precedence to pets over having children are selfish. According to reports, the Pope has likened the preference to being ‘animalistic’.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), addressing the public at the Vatican, Pope Francis said that people who prioritize pets over having children are ‘selfish’.

The Pope reportedly said, “We see a form of selfishness” when people choose to keep pets instead of having children, or even when people have children but still prefer the pets over them. He added that people laugh at this opinion but that it is an act of denying that you are a father or a mother, and this is taking away one’s humanity.

According to reports, Pope Francis said that people who are suffering from infertility or other medical issues and are unable to have children should consider adopting.
This is not the first time Pope Francis has targeted people who choose pets over children. In 2014, he said that having pets instead of children was a cultural degradation.
