Peshawar terrorist attack: UN expresses grief over loss of life
NEW YORK: The United Nations has expressed sorrow over the loss of life in the attack on a mosque in Peshawar. According to details, UN Secretary-General António Guterres telephoned Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Munir Akram to express his deep sorrow and regret over the terrorist attack in Peshawar and the loss of innocent lives. Condemning the incident, the Secretary-General said that it is a personal shock to him as he knows Peshawar well and is aware of the hospitable and good nature of its residents. António Guterres offered condolences to the government, leadership and people of Pakistan over the Peshawar incident. Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, thanked the Secretary-General for his condolences and solidarity with Pakistan.
