PGGA distributes Certificates for Project 'Stay Safe' | Baaghi TV

ISLAMABAD (9th May 2023): The Pakistan Girl Guides Association (PGGA) organized a ceremony to recognize the efforts and dedication of the students participating in Project “Stay Safe”, at its National Headquarters in Islamabad.

In the ceremony, 170 students from Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Akhuwat College, Pak Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges, and COMSATS Attock participated, in acknowledgment of the completion of their Community Service.

According to PGGA’s administration, the students had participated in the Project and completed it by “cascading the Project in various public schools in Islamabad and Rawalpindi”.

On the occasion, Ambassador for Girls Education Ms. Wajiha Qamer, as the Chief Guest addressed the participants and shared her insights on the importance of such structured projects and how they “positively impact society”. Ms. Qamer also lauded the PGGA for its efforts to work together with universities in its mission of empowering girls and women.

Expressing pride for the participants, Ms. Qamer highlighted their “commitment to work” adding: “Certain topics are considered taboos or not given much importance by families and academia, through Project Stay Safe girls learn and discuss real issues that a girl faces in her daily life, which are rather ignored”. 

During the ceremony, she further expressed her hope the initiative could continue to “inspire more young people to get involved in community service and contribute to the betterment of society.”

Also, present at the event were the Vice-Chancellors and Representatives of FJWU, COMSATS, CUST, and Pak Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges, as well as the Principal of Akhuwat College.

Likewise, Ms. Maria Maud Sabri, National Commissioner of PGGA, further acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the participants. Extending her appreciation to the principals of the schools and universities from where the students had managed to complete their Cascading, Ms. Sabri said the PGGA works to empower girls and women so they may “become responsible citizens of the country”.

In this regard, she said Project “Stay Safe” has been particularly designed to promote the “vision forward” with efforts being made to further similar collaborations with other universities and to tackle challenges faced by girls and women today.

According to Baaghi TV’s report, students at the event also shared their experiences of the training received during the project and the cascading. One student said: “The holistic and well-rounded experience has been appreciated by all of us which not only helped to get training on the core areas of [the] Project but also developed life skills in us”.

Another student while sharing her cascading experience, said that the “most interesting part was being a role model and answering the questions being asked by juniors”. 

The Award ceremony came to a close as a “significant” celebration of the dedication of young girls and women providing them an opportunity to encourage more students so they may participate in similar projects and leave a positive impact on their communities.
