Lahore, 11th December: Pakistan Girls Guide Association (PGGA) is one of Pakistan’s most prestigious organizations catering to the growth and grooming of young girls and women.
Baaghi TV: The national organization was started under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, Mr Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Quaid-e-Azam) and his sister, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah in December 1947.
It is protected under Ordinance No. XLIV of 1960, by the Government of Pakistan, and is established all over the country. PGGA works at national as well as provincial levels and is funded by the Government of Pakistan with regular auditing.
From the beginning, our Quaid had realized that women needed to play an essential role in the construction and development of the country, so in 1947, he asked his sister Fatima Jinnah to form Pakistan’s very own Girl Guides Association.
The situation of women in Pakistan is still far from the ideal. The deeply entrenched power structures of the society are such that women are wronged, and nothing is considered wrong with it, at least not by the majority.
Pakistan Girl Guides Association is a “national guiding organization” which aims to offer a dynamic training program to girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens, enabling them to perform their duties successfully in their home as well as for their community and the country.
Girl Guides Association conducts various kinds of training for the girls, educating them in subjects such as maternal health and child mortality, which are generally not openly discussed in Pakistani society
With so many cases of sexual, physical and mental harassment around us, we need to make our women stronger so that they are able to fight the wrongdoings of society.
We need to provide them with not only the academic education, which is no doubt their basic necessity but also some other activities to make them a groomed, stable and grounded person.
The Guide Houses serve the purpose of providing a safe space for girls as they interact with others and learn new skills, prepare for campaigns for social betterment while enjoying camping and develop their personalities in the process.
Girl Guides is a place where girls and women can challenge themselves, put their ideas into action, take part in an amazing range of activities, and gain the skills to confidently navigate their world. All in a safe and supportive environment that welcomes every girl.
No matter the situation Girl Guides are always at the forefront raising awareness and providing a helping hand in the face of disasters for instance educating about dengue, breast cancer or even the ongoing pandemic.

If we raise our girls in such manner then they will no doubt stand as a support system at the hour of need, calamity or a disaster. By providing a helping hand in times of need and by participating more in outdoor activities, the girls develop those leadership qualities which transform them into doers.

Therefore, it would be unjust to deprive these girls of the opportunity to grow and develop in a healthy environment with character-building exercise. Girls need to be directed towards the right path to bring forth a stronger and stable generation.
Transforming girls into self-aware and confident beings is what is required in order to take Pakistan on the path of progress and development.
If we talk about women empowerment, then Girl Guides need to be given the rightful significance. If we want to strengthen our society, then our girls need a forum with the help of which they interact with each other, form a community and gain tremendous amounts of confidence.
It is also important to note that this falls under the duties of State to provide and to encourage such activities under the 1973 Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
