PIA Flew Over 1,118 Flights With Only One or Two Passengers
A shocking revelation has surfaced regarding Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) operations. According to the Auditor General of Pakistan’s (AGP) report, between 2021 and 2023, PIA operated 1,118 flights from Islamabad carrying only one or two passengers. The audit stated that 816 flights flew with just one passenger, while 302 flights had only two. These figures were taken from PIA’s own official records provided by the management. The report termed the decision to operate such flights instead of canceling them and issuing refunds as a result of mismanagement and poor planning, causing heavy financial losses to the national carrier. It also noted that several other flights were operated with only 3 to 50 passengers, generating revenue far below operating costs like fuel and crew expenses.
