PIA in misery as NIH, Marriot make money with both hands
The Government of Pakistan (GoP) is operating special charter flights in collaboration with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to repatriate stranded Pakistanis from various countries including the United States (US).
Coronavirus has terrified the entire world, yet PIA pilots are putting their lives at risk and flying to bring back the stranded Pakistanis.
According to reports of Baaghi TV, the national carrier is facing issues during the quarantine period of its pilots and aviation staff in Islamabad.
However, PIA is strictly abiding by the instructions issued by the GoP. After the implementation of Essential Services Act, no employee is allowed to refuse their duty and in case of violation, legal actions will be taken against them.
Implementation of the Compulsory Services Act in PIA
At a time when PIA pilots and cabin crew staff are pushing their lives in danger, organizations like Marriot Hotel and National Institutes of Health (NIH), Islamabad are busy stuffing their pockets.
According to sources, NIH doctors and paramedic staff are collecting samples for COVID-19 tests from the PIA officials and the passengers at the same time.
Usually the lab is able to determine if you’ve acquired the coronavirus within hours but the test reports of PIA pilots is taking ages by the NIH doctors.
179 passengers repatriated from US, reach Islamabad
However, the passengers are given their reports the next day and are released. Furthermore, the hotel management is releasing the passengers after 26 hours after testing and charging two days payment from them. Apart from that, they are being charged PKR 25,000 as a transportation cost from Islamabad to Lahore.
On the other hand, PIA pilots are kept deliberately for 3-4 days in the hotel as their test reports are not being issued by NIH. However, as per the new SOP issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), on May 10, pilots and crew should be examined as soon as possible based upon their arrival at port of entry.

This experience has been so nerve-racking for not only the PIA pilots but also for their families, as they hardly get a chance to see/meet their loved ones.
As per the reports of Baaghi TV, Marriot Hotel management and NIH are scratching each other’s back and looting money from the PIA.
PIA Officials Cause Losses Worth Millions……
It is pertinent to mention here that at a time when the entire nation is under an economic crisis, these business organizations are looting money from the state-owned airline. Government of Pakistan must take strict action against the management of Marriot Hotel and NIH for not ensuring full implementation of the SOP.
PIA and its staff members are struggling really hard to bring back home people stuck in different parts of the world due to COVID-19 induced global lockdown.
