Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has made an important announcement following Canada’s decision to impose air embargo on Pakistan and India.
According to reports, COVID-19 which spread from China to the world has forced governments to impose lockdown restrictions in many countries. With the third wave, millions have been exposed to the virus in India. In the last four days, India has reported over 1 million cases. In Pakistan too, the number of cases is on the rise, following which the Canadian government has banned flights from Pakistan and India.
The latest restrictions are expected to stay in place for a month, with immediate effect. The Canadian Ministry of Health has issued a statement in lieu of the ban saying that it will apply to all commercial and private flights.
Following the ban imposed by Canada, Pakistan’s national airline PIA has said that all flights to Canada have been canceled due to Canada’s ban on flights from Pakistan. According to a private TV, the cancellation of flights has also stranded a 16-member PIA crew in Toronto. The 16-member cockpit and cabin crew were scheduled to leave Canada for Pakistan on Saturday.
