ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed an alternative operation to the United Kingdom (UK). The first flight left Manchester for Islamabad.

According to the details, the national airline has resumed alternative air operations for the UK due to the ban imposed by the European Air Safety Agency (EASA). The first PIA flight left Manchester for Islamabad with 265 passengers on board at 9:05 p.m (BST).

The flight carried 26 passengers in executive economy while 239 passengers traveled in the economy class, however, it carried 3.5 tonnes of cargo.

The crew, dressed in the colors of the national flag, bade farewell to the passengers.

It may be recalled that PIA had announced to resume air operations for the UK from August 14 under alternative arrangements. The spokesman said the alternative operation would allow passengers to travel directly to Pakistan and London, Manchester and Birmingham.

On the other hand, PIA had released the schedule of two special flights to Paris. The flight will depart from Paris to Islamabad on August 15 and from Islamabad to Paris on August 16, while the second flight from Paris to Islamabad will depart on August 29 and from Islamabad to Paris on August 30.

The Federal Minister said that the government is making every efforts for the complete restoration of PIA air operations for Europe and the UK. PIA’s alternative air operations for the UK and Europe are moving towards recovery.
