It is to be recalled that the federal government has issued a notification to extend the contract of Arshad Malik as the CEO of the national flag carrier. The federal government has approved the extension of Air Marshal Arshad Malik’s PIA contract as CEO till April 25, 2022.
On July 7, 2020, the federal cabinet approved the appointment of Arshad Malik as the CEO of PIA and decided that Arshad Malik will serve as the chief executive even after his retirement on July 12, 2020.
It is pertinent to mention here that Air Marshal Arshad Malik retired from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on July 12, 2020 and was approved by the Federal Cabinet on October 11, 2018 to be the Chairman, but later on April 2, 2019 he was appointed as the CEO.
