A process of reforms and accountability in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has paced up as the national carrier sacked over 60 employees over different reasons in the month of July.
According to the details, human resource department has released a list of actions to be taken against the 63 employees, including five captains with suspected licenses. The national carrier laid off employees on various charges, including fake pilot licences, fake educational credentials, embezzlement and dereliction of duty.
The PIA fired 28 employees over fake credentials, while 27 employees were sacked for being absent without notice. Five captains were also fired for holding dubious licenses, however, two employees involved in embezzlement were fired while one employee was fired for incompetence.
The national carrier also demoted four employees for refusing to work while it punished three employees for violating SOPs by cutting their increments. PIA also issued certificates of appreciation to 13 employees who performed well and gave cash awards to two employees.
PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan said all operations were carried out in accordance with the rules and regulations. Punishment process is going on in PIA without any pressure and will continue.
