PIA terminates services of 28 employees for various violations

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), last month, fired 28 employees from the company for various reasons, including submitting fake or tempered degrees, sabotaging company property, taking bribe and for their involvement in theft and smuggling of narcotics.
According to the details, the process of punishment is underway in PIA. In the month of November, action was taken against 43 employees out of which 28 were dismissed. Human Resources (HR) Department of the airline has released a list of actions taken against employees.
According to the list, PIA fired four employees with fake academic credentials, and four employees were fired for violating the rules and disobeying orders. Eight employees who had been absent for some time without notice were also sacked.

The PIA administration also sacked four employees for taking bribes from passengers and contractors. 2 employees fired for illegally disclosing government information. 3 employees involved in corruption and embezzlement have lost their jobs. An employee involved in the smuggling was also fired.
Two employees were fired for stealing government documents and damaging records.
On the other hand, the national carrier administration demoted 3 employees for non-compliance with orders, reduced the salaries of 3 employees violating SOPs as punishment, issued disciplinary letters to 8 employees. While 8 employees were found innocent after the procedure.

PIA also issued certificates of appreciation to 9 employees for good performance while cash awards were also given to 3 employees.
PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan said that all the above-mentioned actions were taken in accordance with the law and regulations, the process of punishment continues in the PIA without any pressure.
