Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Peoples Unity of PIA Employees (CBA).
According to the MoU, PIACL and the CBA have entered into an understanding with effect from January 1, 2021 with prior approval of the PIACL Board of Directors and restoration of complete flight operations.
The purpose is to make suitable increase in salary/allowances of staff in PG-1 to PG-4 who are on the payroll as on January 1, 2020. Moreover, as per the MoU performance-based merit increase in basic pay of employees will be introduced and implemented.
CBA has demanded for removal of disparity in following human resource (HR) benefits and facilities between staff cadre and other categories of employees by enhancing these for staff in PG-1 to PG-4. Their demands will be put up before the PIACL Board of Directors for the final decision.
The demands that have been put forward are as follows:
- Age be enhanced from 24 to 27 years in respect of dependent son for grant of passage facility.
- Medical facility be allowed to parents after retirement.
- One set 95% each on domestic and international routes be allowed to parents on NS-1 basis, in addition to existing transfer facility.
- Set for passage facility shall consist of six tickets, instead of five.
- Unlimited 95% rebated tickets be allowed on domestic and international routes.
- Serving staff be allowed two sets of 40% rebated tickets on domestic routes, on low fare and to be treated as revenue passengers.
- Pension be calculated at 80% instead of 40% of pensionable components of emoluments.
- Widow of deceased employee (death during service) be allowed set instead of ticket, for self and children.
According to the details, the MoU will be valid and remain in full force and effect for a period of one year, commencing from July 1, 2020 till June 30, 2021. Moreover, according to the agreement of both the parties, it is agreed that there shall be no increase in salary or other benefit if salary is increased in January, 2021.
