PIPS blasts transparency and lockdown SOPs

Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) under the leadership of Chairman Senate/President PIPS, Sadiq Sanjarani, decided to recruit nine people for a public sector organization/institute in December last year.

According to the details of Baaghi TV, over 4,000 candidates applied for the nine positions advertised by PIPS. However, only 15 candidates were selected for the positions and all other applicants were ignored.

As per the details, the positions that were advertised were as follows:

  • Director General Research (OG-II)
  • Director Legislation (OG-III)
  • Director Project Development Unit (OG-III)
  • Director Coordination and Special Assignment (OG-III)
  • Deputy Director Research (OG-IV)
  • Finance Officer (OG-V)
  • Three posts for Office Assistant (SG-II)

According to the sources of Baaghi TV, candidates were shortlisted by the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Affairs (PIPS) without a test and interview. The job vacancy was advertised last year in December and only the shortlisted 15 candidates were called for tests leaving behind the thousands of applicants who applied for jobs.

Moreover, Baaghi TV learnt that call letters were issued to 15 candidates and without knowing the eligibility of thousands of other applicants they were completely ignored.

Surprisingly, the tests were conducted on June 12, 2020. Yes, on the day of the announcement of the federal budget 2020-21. The intentions were pretty much clear, it was done just to avoid the limelight.

Keeping in mind the situation of Pakistan due to the coronavirus pandemic and the smart lockdown imposed by the Government of Pakistan (GoP), tests were conducted violating the standard of procedures (SOPs) as directed by the GoP.

According to the Director General (DG) Human Resources PIPS, Mir Shahi Mazhar Baloch, the vacancies were advertised in December and the candidates were shortlisted as per the policy of the department.

Chairman Senate, Sadiq Sanjarani, has blasted transparency and lockdown SOPs and jobs are being given on the basis of nepotism and favoritism.

According to our sources, a few of the shortlisted candidates include neighbor of the DG HR, PIPS, Family friends of Chairman Senate and sons of a few senators.

Unconfirmed sources claim that they can be taken to court and since there is fire where there is smoke, insiders suggest that nepotism is deep rooted in the lower and upper houses.

Government of Pakistan should take action against their heinous crime and review the current organizational setup of the recruiting body.
