Plane suffers bird strike near Lahore airport, lands safely

Oct 5, 2021: After a  foreign airline’s passenger plane Tuesday narrowly escaped an accident after getting hit by bird near Lahore airport, passengers were shifted to airport’s departure lounge, and flight postponed for indefinite period.

The passengers were told to return to their homes till the flight is ready to take off again.

A passenger plane of a foreign airline narrowly escaped being hit by a bird near Allama Iqbal International Airport on Tuesday.

About 350 passengers were on board, the plane heading to Istanbul crashed into a bird as it was landing at the airport. However, the pilot turned the plane around and landed it safely at the airport. The airline accepted the passengers’ request and arranged for them to stay at a hotel. 

The airline also promised passengers to arrange a second flight to Istanbul and refunded the passengers for their PCR tests.

Initally after the flight had been forced to return and got cancelled, the airline had recommended passengers leave for their homes.

Fearing a protest by passengers, airline authorities had called for additional contingents of the Airport Security Force (ASF) to control the situation.
