PM Imran Khan wished millions of Sikhs on birth anniversary of Guru Nanak

Nov 19, 2021: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday congratulated millions of Sikhs around the world on the 552nd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikh religion.

On Twitter, the Prime Minister welcomed thousands of Sikhs to visit their religious sites in Pakistan. “I reiterate my government’s commitment to allow them to perform their religious rites,” he wrote.

Pakistan on Wednesday welcomed Sikhs on the occasion of the 552nd birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak through a 4.7 km long visa-free Kartarpur corridor for Indian Sikhs.

On Thursday, Indian Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi along with members of his cabinet visited Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur through Kartarpur Corridor.

Channi, accompanied by a group of 30 people, visited Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur on the second day of the reopening of the route, which was suspended for about 20 months after the outbreak of COVID-19. Amir Hashmi, spokesman for the Evacuee Trust Property Board, said another delegation of Sikh pilgrims from India also visited the gurdwara.

The first batch of 28 Indian Sikhs, including women, visited the gurdwara on Wednesday, the first day of the reopening of the Kartarpur corridor.

Muhammad Latif, Chief Executive Officer, Kartarpur Corridor Project Management Unit, officials of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and the Commissioner of Gujranwala welcomed the Sikh pilgrims who arrived here a day before the annual commemoration of Baba Guru Nanak’s birthday.
