PM instructs CM Buzdar to handle an important task

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has directed Usman Buzdar that the Punjab Local Government Act should be passed by the Assembly as soon as possible.

According to sources, Punjab Local Government Minister Mian Mahmood Al-Rasheed called on PM Imran Khan at Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad and discussed the holding of local body elections in Punjab. He gave a detailed briefing and outlined the salient features of the Local Government Act 2021 and said that the purpose of the Local Government Act 2021 was to ensure devolution of powers to the lower level.

During the meeting with the PM, Mahmood Al-Rasheed said that the effective system of local government will solve the problems of the people at their doorstep, the new local government system will play an important role in solving the problems of the people at the grassroots level But empowering the people through transition is our first priority.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister Imran Khan Mian Mahmood Rasheed was given the task of holding early local body elections in Punjab and said that legal process should be completed for early holding of local body elections in Punjab and Punjab Local Government Act should be passed by the Assembly soon. The PM also directed to hold events related to Insaf Health Card and Ehsas program.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started implementation of holding local body elections across the country and has issued instructions to hold elections in Punjab after Baluchistan, KP, Sindh and Islamabad.
