Lahore, 4th March: Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the nation on national TV on important issues.
Baaghi TV: Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the nation tonight to discuss what happened yesterday in the Senate elections of the year 2021.
The premier has decided to take a vote of confidence after the ruling party suffered a setback when its candidate Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh lost a Senate seat from Islamabad to a joint candidate of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani.
Prime Minister Office, Pakistan shared the video on their official Twitter account:

In his address, PM Khan said that the country’s leadership comes from within the members of parliament and here people are becoming Senators after bribing others.
He said, “What sort of democracy is this? So I began a campaign for open balloting.”
The premier apprised the nation that during the 2018 Senate elections, the party found that 20 lawmakers had sold themselves off.
He added, “The PML-N and PPP signed a Charter of Democracy favouring the open balloting method because money rules in the Senate elections.”
He said that money is used in the polls for the upper house, which was not a new phenomenon but had been going on 30-40 years.
Premier also said that the Supreme Court told the Election Commission of Pakistan that it is their responsibility to hold transparent elections.
The prime minister highlighted that the Opposition parties joined together to demand a secret ballot, whereas they had agreed on an open ballot in the past.
PM Khan asked, “I now ask you. Why do you think the same parties who wanted an open ballot now turned all their efforts to have a secret ballot?”
Prime Minister explained that ever since his government came into power, all the corrupt people panicked that since we have come with an agenda on catching corrupt people, they might close in on them.
He also said that the corruption cases were pre-dated and not made by the ruling government.
PM Khan shared that he had predicted that the opposition will all stand together to put pressure on him so that he might wrap up their cases.
PM Khan said in his address that his opposition planned to use the money to break his party apart and to bring PTI lawmakers over to their side.
According to reports from Baaghi TV, earlier in the day, PM Khan directed his party MNAs to stay in Islamabad until the session of the National Assembly summoned for a vote of confidence on Saturday.
According to sources, PM Imran Khan has nominated Sadiq Sanjrani as the candidate for Senate Chairmanship by the government.
