Lahore, 26th  February: After his return from Sri Lanka, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan hails the recent decision taken by the Sri Lankan government.

Baaghi TV: Prime Minister Imran Khan welcomed the decision taken by the Sri Lankan government for lifting a ban on the burial of COVID-19 victims.

The premier took to Twitter on Friday to thank the Sri Lankan leadership.

He wrote on his official Twitter account, “I thank the Sri Lankan leadership & welcome the Sri Lankan govt’s official notification allowing the burial option for those dying of Covid 19.”

According to reports, on Thursday the Sri Lankan government ordered to lift the ban on the burial of bodies of people who have died of COVID-19.

As per reports from last year, the Sri Lankan government had imposed restrictions in March that the bodies of COVID-19 victims could only be cremated which triggered protests by Muslim groups.

PM Khan welcomed his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa for his assurance given in Sri Lankan Parliament today allowing Muslims to bury those who died from COVID-19.
