PM Khan lays the foundation stone of the CBD project which will generate billions

Lahore, 26th February: Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone of Central Business District (CBD) in Lahore on Friday.

Baaghi TV: PM Khan laid the foundation stone of the CBD today and informed that the project will generate Rs 1,300 billion in its first phase.

While addressing a ceremony in Lahore today, PM said that de-notifying of Walton airport will turn the adjacent areas into an economic centre.

PM Imran Khan also said that in order to stop the expansion of Lahore city, it is necessary to plan the construction of high-rise buildings. It would be difficult to manage the cities like Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad if we failed to stop their expansion.

The premier added that during its first phase, the CBD project will generate income up to Rs 1,300 billion. He said that de-notifying of Walton airport will turn the adjacent areas into an economic hub. Hence, the commercial activities will rise up to Rs 6,000 billion after de-notifying the airport.

He criticised past governments for putting a huge weight of financial debt on the country which eventually led the present government to take an external loan.

He explained that the external loan resulted in the devaluation of the rupee and an increase in inflation in the country. The premier said that in order to return the loans we will have to reduce the expenses and increase the income.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also addressed the ceremony and said that the PTI government is going to achieve another milestone by laying the foundation of the Green Central Business District in Lahore.

He said that the mega project will be constructed in three phases on a 300-acre land and will be designed according to the PM’s vision for environmental protection.

It is to be noted that the establishment of the Lahore Central Business District (CBD) Development Authority under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had been approved in January to improve commercialisation activities.
