PM Khan to inspect construction work of Diamer Bhasha Dam project today

According to Baaghi TV, Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Diamer Bhasha Dam site today.
Chairman CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa will also accompany Prime Minister Imran Khan. A briefing and special documentary on Diamer Bhasha Dam project will also be shown to the Prime Minister. The mega project will generate four and a half thousand megawatts of electricity and store 8.1 million acre feet of water.
According to the spokesperson, the Diamer Bhasha Dam project has entered its construction phase. Work on two major dams, Mohmand and Diamer Bhasha, has been started during the last one year. Diamer Bhasha Dam is a very important project for water, food and energy security of Pakistan. Diamer Bhasha Dam project will be completed in the year 2028-29.
Water storage in the dam 8.1 million acre feet of water storage will be able to irrigate an additional 1.23 million acres of land. Diamer Bhasha Dam has a generating capacity of four and a half thousand megawatts. The project will provide 18 billion units of hydropower to the national grid every year.
It may be recalled that in the hearing on the construction of Kala Bagh Dam, former Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had immediately issued orders and funds for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dams to alleviate the water shortage. Former Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was the first to submit a donation for the construction of the dams. Later, Prime Minister Imran Khan also became part of the dam fund and he had appealed in this regard.
The Mohmand Dam hydropower project to be built on the Swat River will generate 800 MW of electricity per day at a cost of 3 billion. Work on Mohmand Dam will be completed by 2028.
The project of Diamer Bhasha Dam to be constructed in Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan is estimated to cost Rs. 14 billion which will generate 4500 MW of electricity. The dam water will also be used for irrigation and drinking.
