PM orders ‘foolproof security’ for Imran ahead of Lahore rally

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday issued directives to relevant authorities to ensure foolproof security for former prime minister Imran Khan during his visit to Lahore.

According to the details, newly elected PM Shehbaz Sharif has directed Minister of Interior Rana Sanaullah to take immediate and strict action on the reports of security threat to Imran Khan. PM Shehbaz Sharif has directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to personally supervise the implementation of the directives.

“PM Shehbaz Sharif has directed Interior Division to take effective and immediate steps for provision of fool-proof security to ex-premier Imran Khan,” read a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

On the directions of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Interior has written letters to Home Secretaries of all Provincial Governments, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) governments.

“Negligence and dereliction of duty regarding Imran Khan’s security during his public gatherings, rallies and public activities will not be tolerated,” warned the prime minister office.

Khan is scheduled to address a PTI rally at the Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore today, Thursday. This will be his third power show in less than two weeks since he was ousted from office.
