Nov 5, 2021: Sindh Assembly member Jam Owais has been handed over to police on a three-day physical remand in connection with the murder of a young man in Thatta.

Nazim Jokhio was tortured to death for recording the MPA’s extremely rare bird hunting campaign with Arab hunters. MPA Jam Owais was produced in court today after being handed over to police after protests.

He was named in FIR No. 457/21 registered at Memon Goth police station.

During the hearing, the investigating officer told the court that the accused had handed himself over to the police, after which the apex judge ordered him to submit a progress report in the case at the next hearing and remanded him to the police for three days.

Two more accused Haider and Mir Ali were also handed over to police on three-day physical remand. The families of the slain Nazim Jokhio were protesting in Thatta and Karachi against the senseless killing.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also took notice of the protest and directed the police to register an FIR as per the wishes of the Nazim’s family.

A few days ago, Nazim Jokhio stopped a vehicle with a foreign registration number plate and asked the people inside the vehicle why they closed the road and what they were doing there. During the verbal altercation, the youths filmed the whole incident.

Nazim received death threats and tried to snatch his mobile phone. He somehow managed to escape the scene and uploaded the video to a social media platform that went viral.

His family claimed that the PPP MPA called him to their house and tortured him. The family said that Nazim was tortured to death by a PPP assembly member.

On Wednesday, police recovered Nazim’s body from Memon Goth area of ​​Malir and conducted an autopsy.
