Polling underway in NA-249 amid strict security measures

April 29, 2021: Despite the fast and heat, various polling stations in NA 249 are crowded and busy. SOPs are also being taken care of due to corona. Due to polling, there is a public holiday in the constituency while strict security arrangements have been made outside the polling stations. Women voters are also very active in the constituency and there is a rush of women to cast votes.

Amjad Iqbal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muftah Ismail of PML-N, Qadir Mandokhel of PPP and Pak Sar are expected to contest in the by-elections in this constituency. Mustafa Kamal of Zameen Party is contesting in the field, besides Hafiz Muhammad Mursalin of MQM Pakistan is also contesting.

The NA-249 seat has been vacated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Faisal Wawda had vacated the MNA seat after becoming a senator.

All 276 polling stations in Constituency 249 have been declared as Highly Sensitive and Sensitive, 184 Highly Sensitive and 92 Sensitive Polling Stations Cameras have been installed at the most sensitive polling stations. Not a single polling station in the constituency is normal. Voter polling stations have been set up. 139 Joint polling stations have been set up. The total number of voters in NA-249 constituency is 39,591. The number of male voters is 21665.

In NA-249, 30 candidates are in the fray, 18 independents and 12 candidates from different political parties are contesting. 276 Presiding Officers and 796 Assistant Presiding Officers are on duty at polling stations. Heavy contingent has been deployed, election staff will be present till the completion of polling and counting.
