PPP gets Sword symbol for upcomming general elections
On Thursday, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) secured the “sword” symbol for elections.
Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, the General Secretary of PPP, appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to request the allotment of the election symbol, and the ECP granted their request.
Following the successful allocation of the symbol, Bukhari expressed that it is a matter of great pride for Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to reclaim the iconic election symbol of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s party.
The “sword” symbol holds significant historical value for PPP, as it was one of the three symbols, along with plough and scales, that were removed from the list of election symbols during the era of former military ruler Gen Ziaul Haq after the 1977 polls. Notably, PPP’s founder, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was also previously allotted the “sword” symbol for elections.
