PPP’s Murtaza Wahab elected as Mayor of Karachi

Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Wahab Murtaza was elected as mayor of Karachi by securing 173 votes Thursday.

According to unofficial result, his rival JI’s Hafiz Naeemur Rehman could bag 160 votes.

The voting to elect mayor and deputy mayor of Karachi was held at the City Council.

In total, 333 member voters were present in the City Council, 173 out of them belonged to PPP, while 160 were from JI and PTI. As many as 33 members were absent today.

Tough contest held between Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Murtaza Wahab and Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Hafiz Naeemur Rehman for the seat of Karachi mayor.
