“Pray for the Lebanese people,” showbiz figures lament Beirut bombings
A bomb blast near the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on August 4th killed at least 150 people and injured 4,000 others.
Although the exact cause of the blasts has not yet been determined, Lebanese officials say an explosive device exploded at a port warehouse. The blasts were so loud that their sounds could be heard as far as the neighboring Israeli city of Cyprus, and Beirut was declared a disaster area after the blasts.
While politicians and dignitaries from around the world lamented the deadly blasts, Pakistani political figures, sports and showbiz people have also lamented the blasts and expressed their love for the Lebanese people.
Following the Beirut bombings, trends such as “Pray for Lebanon” and “Beirut bombings” became commonplace on Twitter, and ordinary people around the world lamented the bombings. Pakistani showbiz personalities also expressed solidarity with the Lebanese people after photos and videos of the blasts surfaced where appeals were made to the people to pray for Lebanon.
Actress Ayesha Omar described the Beirut bombings as “horrific and painful” and wrote that her sympathies were with the Lebanese people.

Feroze Khan also expressed regret over the Beirut bombings and wrote that he prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the blast and expressed his sympathies with the Lebanese people.

Singer, actor and host Fakhr-e-Alam also shared photos of the devastation in Beirut after the bombings in his tweet, saying that the Lebanese people’s anger against their government and politicians increased after the bombings, because for 6 years 2700 tons of explosives were stored in the warehouse.
