February 9, 2021: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that the investment climate in the country is conducive and reforms are underway to facilitate business.

He said, “Let the business community play its part in efforts to encourage taxation, peace in Afghanistan will benefit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and boost regional trade.”

The President expressed these views in a meeting with the business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Governor House Peshawar. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman, former FPCCI President Ghazanfar Bilour, NWFC Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sher Baz Ilyas and other officials of the chamber were also present.

The President said that full tax payment would help in reducing the trade deficit and providing funds for development projects, adding that the business community should play its role in efforts to encourage tax payment in the country.

President Arif Alvi said that the current government has given an economic relief package of Rs 1.2 trillion during the outbreak of Corona virus, the government is committed to provide a competitive business environment to the business community, the investment climate in the country is favorable. And business reforms are underway.

The President said that the business community should further improve its relations with the government and make suggestions for improving the business environment.

He said that Pakistan needs to take advantage of the opportunities available in the tourism and IT sectors. The President said that peace in Afghanistan would boost regional trade and would first and foremost benefit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On the occasion, the business community lauded the government’s initiatives to protect the business sector and promote regional trade.

The President was briefed on the prospects and benefits of trade with Central Asian states through the ports of Karachi and Gwadar.
