President Arif Alvi has urged the political leadership and the people to unite to take the country in the direction of progress and development.

Addressing the nation after hoisting the national flag at the main flag hoisting ceremony at the Convention Center in Islamabad, he said this was the need of the hour that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s message of unity, faith and discipline is truly followed.

The president stressed that it was unity that made a nation. He was confident that Pakistan can become a developed country in a matter of few years.

Dr Alvi urged the politicians and other stakeholders to embrace the path of forgiveness, drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The President emphasized the importance of women’s participation in economic activities, highlighting that they constitute nearly half of the population, a vital factor in achieving a high growth rate.

He acknowledged the ongoing sacrifices made by both the armed forces and the people, with nearly 100,000 lives lost in the war on terrorism, reiterating the commitment to persevere in the fight against this menace.

President Alvi strongly condemned Islamophobic incidents in western countries, affirming that Islam is a religion of peace, and Muslims hold deep love for Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the Holy Quran.

In the face of global threats such as global warming, the President called for promoting harmony rather than hatred, emphasizing the need to unite in this critical time for humanity.

Regarding the situation in Indian-held Kashmir, the President reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for its Kashmiri brothers and sisters. He urged the international community to prioritize the resolution of this dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions.

The President expressed gratitude to friendly nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, China, Iran, and Turkey, for their support during Pakistan’s challenging times.

Earlier, the President ceremoniously raised the national flag, with the event being attended by notable figures, including Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
