Mar 3, 2022: According to a report by AFP, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday that his country had thwarted Russia’s “sneaky” plans, adding that he was proud of the “heroic” resistance to Moscow’s invasion.
In a video posted on Telegram social network and messaging service, Zelenskyy said, “We are a nation that broke the enemy’s plans in a week. Plans written for years: sneaky, full of hatred for our country, our people,”
The president said he “sincerely admires” the brave people of those cities who resisted the advance of Russian forces. He added that about 9,000 Russian soldiers had been killed since the attack began a week ago, a claim that was not immediately verifiable because Moscow did not report casualties.
On Twitter, Zelenskyy wrote that he had spoken to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and “thanked him for his leadership in imposing anti-Russian sanctions.”
“The need to increase sanctions has been emphasized,” he added. “The bombing of civilians in Ukraine must stop immediately.”He said.
