Lahore: The tug-of-war in the bureaucracy of Punjab and the rise of “League Polling”, no officer can work in one place, due to the same tug-of-war bureaucracy appointments continue to be transferred.
There are several groups working in the Punjab bureaucracy at present. Major (retd) Azam Suleiman Khan Group, Jawad Rafiq Malik Group, Tahir Khurshid Group, Rohani Group and DMG Noon Group are active at present. They keep dragging their legs and keep complaining to each other to the Chief Minister.
Since the PTI government came to power, the fourth chief secretary has been appointed in Punjab. In Punjab, the government changed four IGs in a limited period. Kaleem Imam was appointed IG in the caretaker government. A month later, Muhammad Tahir, then he was removed and Majid Javed Salimi and shortly after that Arif Nawaz was appointed IG.
He too was removed a few months later and posted as Shoaib Dastgir but there are still rumors of transfer of Chief Secretary and IG. The Department of Higher Education, the Department of Livestock, the Department of Local Government, the Department of Services, the Department of Food, the Department of Irrigation and the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister are changing frequently.
There is uncertainty in Punjab at the moment and no officer knows when and how he will fall prey to the internal politics of the bureaucracy.
On the other hand, the voices of change in the Punjab cabinet are being raised again, the sword of danger is hanging over the heads of four ministers, the portfolios of two ministers can be changed and the portfolios can be withdrawn from two ministers. Provincial Minister for Sports Timur Bhatti, Provincial Minister for Minority Ejaz Alam Augustine and CMIT Provincial Minister Ajmal Cheema.
