PSCA opens digital tablets in PRU vehicles

Lahore: Punjab Safe Cities Authority has introduced Tablets equipped with modern technology integrated with criminal record of proclaimed offenders, e challan data, stolen and black listed vehicles and other necessary information to maintain law and order and curb crime in the provincial metropolis. Capital City Police Officers (CCPO) Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and Chief Operating Officer Kamran Khan on Tuesday, inaugurated the information technology based tablets in eight vehicles of Police Response Unit in a ceremony held at Punjab Safe Cities Authority Qurban lines Lahore. DIG Operations Capt. (R) Sohail Chuhdary, CCPO Muntazir Mehdi, SP Dolphin Squad/PRU Rashid Hidayat, SP Coordination PSCA Asim Jasra and other police officers were also present.

On this occasion Chief Operating Officer Muhammad Kamran Khan briefed CCPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar about the working of E-Traffic app and tablets equipped with modern technology. He said that E-Challan Defaulters are being seized with the help of Lahore Traffic Police. Tablets are inaugurated in eight vehicles of Police Response Unit (PRU) as a pilot project. These tablets have been installed in eight vehicles of PRU including Shahdara, kahna, sherakot, Chung and Harbanspura. This facility has also been provided to the MTD handsets of traffic police to track the stolen, e challaned vehicles as well as criminals with record.

While talking with media persons, Ghulam Mahmood Dogar expressed the significance of latest technology in operational and strategic policing to serve humanity and curb crime. Lahore Police have increasingly realized the need for high performance connectivity, providing real-time access to applications required to check the identity and record of suspected persons and vehicles, he added.

The CCPO Lahore said that these Tablets have been linked with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and the officers and officials of PRU teams could get all necessary information available at PSCA during their patrolling, snap and surprise checking as well as monitoring of the processions and other law and order related activities through live view cameras installed on their vehicles. The scope of these tablets will be expanded to all the remaining vehicles of the PRU after analysing the output and further improving the performance of these Tablets based pilot project. The team members of PRU vehicles have also been imparted necessary training to use these Tablets in sync with PSCA data. He said technological support and advancement of PSCA is the bone of Lahore police particularly in promoting citizen centric IT based policing. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar further said that Lahore Police has improved and rationalized its human resources as well as logistics in accordance with the needs of present era by introducing latest technology and adopting smart policing tactics.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) PSCA Kamran Khan said, E-Traffic app has been provided to the city traffic police through which Traffic wardens can check the record of E-Challan defaulter vehicles. He added more, PSCA is the most important security project and a national asset, providing all possible estate of the art technical support to the Lahore police according to their demand to enable and equipped them with latest technology to eradicate crimes.
