Punjab: In light of the worsening coronavirus situation in the country, the Punjab Government has instated a lockdown in 11 districts of the province, namely Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Khanewal, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, and Rahim Yar Khan.

A set of regulations to follow have been given, which are as follows:

  • All business and market activities shall stop at 8 pm sharp each day, with the exception of essential services.
  • Saturday and Sunday, the weekends, shall be off days for all business and market activities with the exception of essential services. No service that does not fall under the essential category may conduct business.
  • Indoor dining is banned, however, outdoor dining is allowed up to 10 pm at night, with SOPs. Takeaways are allowed 24/7.
  • Indoor weddings are completely banned, however, functions may be conducted outdoors with a maximum of 300 people. Following SOPs is mandatory.
  • Religious shrines shall be completely closed.
  • Cinemas and theatres shall be completely closed.
  • Indoor gatherings shall be completely banned, including cultural, musical/religious/miscellaneous festivals. Outdoor events and gatherings, however, are allowed, as long as they strictly follow SOPs.
  • Wearing masks is mandatory.
  • Public transports will only run with up to 50% with riders.
  • All water parks and swimming pools will remain closed.
  • Public parks may remain open with SOPs.
  • Only vaccinated people will be allowed in the gymnasiums.
