Punjab govt forms Film Fund Disbursement Committee

Taking a historical step towards revival of the country’s film industry, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formed an eight member Punjab Film Fund Disbursement Committee, to provide financial assistance to produce movies.
Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb is the Convener of the Committee, who chaired its first meeting in Lahore and took important decisions to implement the Chief Minister’s vision.
The first review regarding the progress of measures taken for the Film City in Nawaz Sharif IT City has been completed, while space has been allocated there for setting up of Film Studio and Post Production Lab, already approved by the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
As per the notification, the Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Finance Minister Mujata Shuja ur Rehman, Human Rights Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora are the Committee members along with the Provincial Secretaries of the concerned Departments. The Committee has assigned the task to review the applications submitted by the filmmakers and film maker companies. It can also review the production of new movies and scripts of incomplete movies and decide regarding the arranging the fund, standard of qualification and box office incentives. The Committee can also form Sub-Committees regarding any issue.
