Lahore: Punjab government has planned to announce a major relief for businesses before Eid during the coronavirus lockdown.

The decision would likely be taken during a meeting to be chaired by Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade, Mian Aslam Iqbal tonight.

“The closing time for markets is likely to be extended from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm to facilitate the businesses before Eid,” the sources said adding that it would remain implemented from Monday to Thursday next week. However, a complete lockdown will be imposed from Friday to Sunday.

It is pertinent to mention here that on May 15, the Punjab government gave permission for reopening of shopping malls amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Mian Aslam Iqbal said that complete standard operating procedure (SOP) plan has been prepared that will be presented to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar in a meeting.

The malls’ owners should make sure use of thermal gun checking, hand sanitizers and masks by all the customers, staffers and shopkeepers.

COVID-19: Deaths and infected cases rising across the country

The deadly virus is spreading rapidly in the country with the increase in the number of infected cases there is a rise in the number of deaths too. According to Baaghi TV, around 1,352 cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours, due to which the total number has crossed 40,000.

It is to be noted that despite the spread of coronavirus, lockdown violations continue in various cities of the country. Despite all efforts, the administration seems to have failed to implement SOPs.
