Punjab Transport Company undertakes crackdown on illegal public transport

Lahore December 22. Punjab Transport Company has issued challan tickets of Rs 2lakh to 469 public service vehicles this week while 74 public transport vehicles have been impounded at different police stations.

Chief Executive Officer Punjab Transport Company Khawaja Sikandar Zeeshan said in a statement that Punjab Transport Company has adopted a lower tolerance policy against public transport running without route and fitness certificates. CEO Punjab Transport Company has directed transporters to complete their papers at the earliest and said that the ongoing smog disaster in the city can be overcome only by timely fitness of the vehicle. Under this campaign, any public transport which does not have a route permit and fitness certificate will not be seized and returned until the owner of the vehicle, the route permit of the vehicle and the fitness certificate or both. Chief Executive Officer Punjab Transport Company Khawaja Sikandar Zeeshan has directed Deputy General Manager Enforcement Punjab Transport Company Faisal Yusuf to continue the proceedings against public transport which does not have full papers in the same manner.
