Popular Punjabi actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla died on Friday at Fortis Hospital in Mohali around 4 am. He was 65. The actor was unwell for the past few months and was admitted to the hospital after suffering a brain stroke.

His funeral will be held on August 23 at noon at the Balongi cremation ground in Mohali, India Today reported. A large number of fans, friends, and artists from the Punjabi film industry are expected to gather to pay tribute to the legend.

Bhalla was one of the most loved faces of Punjabi cinema. With his sharp wit, satirical style, and comic timing, he brought laughter to generations. From stage to silver screen, his presence always lit up the atmosphere.

He appeared in countless Punjabi films, including Mahaul Theek Hai, Jija Ji, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Power Cut, Kabaddi Once Again, Apan Phir Milange, Mel Kara De Rabba, Carry On Jatta, Jatt and Juliet, and Jatt Airways.

His catchphrases like “Mein taa bhannduu bullan naal akhrote” and “Dhillon ne kaalaa coat aiven ni payeya” became part of popular culture.

In movies like Carry On Jatta, Band Baaje, Jind Jaan, and Gaddi Chaldi Hai Chhalla Maarke, he proved that comedy can be both entertaining and thought-provoking. Through his art, Bhalla also addressed social issues such as drug abuse, unemployment, and female foeticide.
