Russia’s Vladimir Putin spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday, days after he met US President Donald Trump in Alaska to discuss a permanent end to the war on Ukraine.

Tthe PM underlined India’s position on the war raging since February 2022, and his office said he called for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. India will offer its full support in this regard, Putin was told.

Modi and Putin also discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, the PMO said.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close touch.

Modi later posted on X. “Thank my friend, President Putin, for his phone call and for sharing insights on his recent meeting with President Trump in Alaska. India has consistently called for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and supports all efforts in this regard.”

“I look forward to our continued exchanges in the days to come,” the PM wrote.
