Rabies claims 19th life in Sindh

Karachi (18th Oct, 2019) Another woman died of rabies at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi.

The victim has been named as 55-year-old Hoor Bibi from Benazirabad. She was bitten by a rabid dog last month.

The total death number from Rabies has reached 19 in Sindh.

The executive director of Jinnah hospital Karachi, Dr Seemin Jamali, said the woman was admitted on 16th October.  This is the ninth rabies death at the Jinnah hospital this year.

The High Court of Sindh said on that everyone is allowed to catch stray dogs in the province. The local government and health department secretaries were ordered to present their reports regarding the control of stray dogs, they’ve done on 22th October.

If someone, who was bitten, dies due to the unavailability of an anti-rabies vaccine, then the Sindh health department would be held responsible, the court ruled.
