In a recent operation conducted by LESCO officials in the Shad Bagh sub-division, it was revealed that renowned journalist and TV anchor person, Rana Azim, was allegedly involved in electricity theft. According to the LESCO spokesperson, Rana Azim was accused of tampering with the meter to steal electricity, and it was found that he was running an air conditioner in his house with the stolen electricity, causing a loss of one lakh 20 thousand rupees to the national treasury.
A case has been registered against Rana Azim at the concerned police station, and it was reported that the LESCO team faced harassment and threats from the accused during their operation. In response to this incident, the relevant meter reader has also been suspended for neglecting his duties.
This development serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing electricity theft and ensuring fair and legal use of power resources in the region.
