Rare shell found at sea auctioned for Rs 18,000 #Baaghi

June 30, 2021: In the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, a shell found by the sea was auctioned for Rs 18,000.

BaaghiTV: According to Indian media, an unusually large orange shell has been found on the banks of the river Godavari in the village of Upada in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The sea shell, also known as the Australian Bugle or Flaz trumpet, was auctioned for Rs 18,000.

According to ANI news agency, pictures of sea creatures were posted on Twitter on June 27. This type of shell, scientifically known as the Serenity Arvans, is a descendant of the world’s largest shell. Syrinx Aruanus can grow up to 91 cm tall and weigh up to 18 kg. Being the only breed in its family, the Syrinx Aruanus is the largest living shell gastropod.

It is commonly found in northern Australia and nearby Papua New Guinea and eastern Indonesia. Syrinx Aruanus are locally common in places where there are not many fish and they survive by eating insects. Because they live in the deep sea with a depth of at least 50 meters, they are rarely seen on the coast when large waves push them. However, not much is known about the species’ ecosystems.
