Lahore, 29th August: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has issued a high alert after intermittent, heavy rains continue in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi.

Accoridng to details, Raja Shaukat Mahmood, WASA Managing Director (MD) of Staff and Heavy Machinery Field issued a high alert on Sunday after heavy rainfall was recorded in Rawalpindi.

According to reports, MD WASA informed that WASA personnel are present with heavy machinery in Rawalpindi’s low-lying areas.

He added that the water level at Kataria in Nala Lei is 6 feet while at Gawalmandi Bridge it is 4 feet.

Meanwhile, MD Wasa Rawalpindi is ready to deal with any kind of emergency.

Spokesman WASA informed that MD Shaukat Mehmood is present in the field to monitor the drainage process.

The spokesperson said that teams are present at Airport Road, Committee Chowk, Nadar Pass, Lia Qutbagh, Javed Colony, Dhok Khabba, Sadiqabad, Satellite Town, Jamia Masjid Road and Murree Road.

It may be mentioned here that the Meteorological Department has forecast rain in different parts of Punjab including Islamabad today. Rain is also expected in Swat, Abbottabad and Mansehra.
