Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wins historic runoff, re-elected as Turkiye President

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has won re-election, according to unofficial results from the state-run Anadolu Agency. With 97 percent of ballot boxes opened in the run-off, Erdogan has 52.1 percent of the vote, and challenger Kemal Kilicdaroglu has 47.9 percent.

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh says Erdogan’s “election victory” shows renewal of people’s confidence in his successful projects and policies.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has congratulated Erdogan “on his unquestionable election victory!”

The Emir of Qatar has congratulated Erdogan on Twitter “for runoff victory, wishing success for new term”.

“My dear brother Recep Tayyip Erdogan, congratulations on your victory,” he tweeted.

Erdogan: 52.3 percent

Kilicdaroglu: 47.7 percent

Ballot boxes opened: 96 percent
