Remembering ‘Shair-e-Mashriq’ Allama Iqbal on his 146th Birth Anniversary
LAHORE: On the occasion of the 146th birth anniversary of ‘Shair-e-Mashriq’ (the poet of the East), Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, a public holiday has been declared across the country. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who received the title of Hakeem-ul-Ummat, created a spirit of self-reliance in the youth while teaching the nation a lesson of awareness. Through his poetry, he gave a message of unity to the Muslim Ummah. In a historic address in Allahabad in 1930, Iqbal awakened the Muslims of the subcontinent by presenting the concept of Pakistan through his universal poetry and political intelligence.
