Residents of Sindh should be poisoned in the name of water: Pasban
Pollution of Kanjhar Lake is a serious threat to human lives: Abdul Hakim Quaid
Water is a symbol of health and a guarantee of survival, to be protected
Create an authorized body for water resource conservation

KARACHI: Pasban Democratic Party Vice Chairman Abdul Hakim Quaid has said that poisoning of Sindh residents in the name of water should be stopped. Rising pollution in Lake Keenjhar poses a serious threat to human life. The mixing of industrial waste from Nooriabad and Kotri factories with water is making it toxic and should be stopped immediately. A complete ban on mineral water should be imposed in the Chief Minister, Governor House, Sindh Assembly and Secretariat to supply water from Khenjar Lake so that the rulers can realize the problem of drinking water pollution. Water sanitation should be taken care of, the budget allocated in the name of water sanitation should be protected from being wasted.

An authorized body should be set up for water resource conservation in Pakistan. Water reserves should be protected from pollution. Measures should be devised to preserve rainwater like in developed countries. Water is a symbol of health and a guarantee of survival. A precious gift from God, to be protected. Talking about water scarcity and pollution in the country in a statement issued from the Guardian Press Information Cell, Abdul Hakim Quaid added that Pakistan was among the ten countries that would face the worst water shortage in the next 20 years. Fifty percent of Pakistan’s population does not have access to clean drinking water. Seventy percent of the population does not have access to running water.

Water scarcity and supply is a very important issue. There are currently about 225 wetlands in Pakistan where rapidly increasing pollution is a very serious problem. Millions of people in Karachi, Thatta and Nooriabad are supplied with water from this lake. Due to the lack of proper maintenance and pollution in the lake, its water is becoming unhealthy. Industrial waste from factories is dumped in Lake Keenjhar and the same water is supplied to the people in Karachi and Thatta, posing serious health risks, including dangerous diseases such as liver disease, eye diseases, hepatitis and cancer. Diseases are included.

The Sindh government should abandon indifference and carelessness and wake up from its slumber. It should stop playing with the health and lives of the people. Every year millions and crores of rupees are allocated in the name of water treatment. Why is water being supplied to the people with substandard and unhealthy water? There is a wave of public concern over the pollution of Lake Kanjhar, but lice do not creep into the ears of the government. Only traditional statements have been used. Only a healthy citizen can benefit the country with his abilities. God does not like a weak believer.

How many water treatment plants and filtration plants are working in the province at present, how many are inoperable and how many more water treatment plants and filtration plants are needed? Is there any institution in the province and country that can take notice of this important issue, make a report and hold the provincial government accountable? If this important issue is not taken into account, a public campaign to inject contaminated water into the rulers and members of parliament may be launched.
