Retired director of Karachi Municipal Corporation and ophthalmologist, Dr Birbal Genani shot dead
The retired director of Karachi Municipal Corporation and ophthalmologist, Dr Birbal Genani, was shot dead near the Lyari Expressway today, the local media reported. His assistant, Dr Qurat-ul-Ain, was injured in the attack. The two were travelling in a car, CCTV footage showed.
Based on the CCTV footage of the attack, it is being suspected to be a case of targeted killing.
This is the second case of an attack on a Hindu doctor in this month.
The doctor’s cook told the police that the two had an altercation on their way home. Once home, the driver allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and killed the doctor in his own home.
