The nation was left in shock by the harrowing case of Rizwana, a 14-year-old girl employed in the home of a civil judge. This distressing incident captured the public’s attention due to the intense physical and emotional abuse she suffered at the hands of the judge’s wife, who was identified as the main perpetrator.

Rizwana’s testimony paints a heart-wrenching picture of her daily life, marked by relentless beatings with sticks, along with being kicked and slapped by the judge’s wife. Shockingly, the abuse increased & she was often restricted to a room for days, subjected to hunger, and no link to anyone outside of the room. Rizwana even revealed that she was denied the right to meet her own parents during her time of servitude, and her injuries were left untreated.

In response, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was established to uncover the truth. The civil judge who employed Rizwana was called to answer questions, but he failed to appear, raising concerns about the regard that even those within the legal system hold no respect for the law. His wife, Somia Asim, was arrested but released on bail after providing surety bonds worth Rs100,000. She vehemently denied all allegations of ill-treatment, while miraculously, Rizwana managed to survive the horrifying ordeal.

Tragically, the story of 9-year-old Fatima from Ranipur tells a darker tale. Fatima met a brutal end in the home of a wealthy local religious leader, where she suffered not only extreme physical abuse but also sexual assault. Her body bore the scars of torture, and preliminary medical findings revealed signs of rape. Shockingly, she was buried without a proper post-mortem examination, but her body was later exhumed. Medical reports indicated that samples were collected from her body, including vaginal swabs, for DNA testing and serology to identify potential perpetrators living in the mansion, including the owner, Pir Asad Shah.
