Rohit Throws the Coin Far Away at Toss, Don’t Let Other Captains See: Sikander Bakht

If the semi-final last night was any indication, India has established itself as an indomitable side in world cricket right now.

Having secured the first spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final, with yet another comfortable win, and having fired on all cylinders from batting to bowling, India find themselves poised to lift the coveted trophy yet again after 12 years.

They say with great power comes great responsibility. But, perhaps another side of it is that with great power, comes great success, which also attracts a great deal of criticism and controversy.

Well, that is exactly what former Pakistan cricketer Sikander Bakht has brought to light recently with his recent appearance on television.

Following India’s win over New Zealand in the first semi-final of the WC last night, Bakht took to television media to share his view on how he believed India might be gaining an unfair advantage over other teams.

Bakht insinutated that India perhaps may be exploiting the toss due to how Rohit Sharma tosses the coin far away from the other captains in the pitch, so as to deceive and perhaps gain sway over the decision being taken.

“If you see closely enough, whenever Rohit Sharma gets to flip the coin for the toss, he also tosses it far away from the other captain. It is almost far enough that the other captain never really gets to see what the actual outcome of the toss was,” stated Bakht.

The core idea of Bakht’s post and comments are that India are exploiting the advantages of playing at home in order to gain the upper hand and have their path for success paved for them in the World Cup.

Bakht then took to social media with the same quote and clipped it alongside footage of the various tosses across this tournament so as to demonstrate his point.

In retort, online users, especially Indian cricket fans, took to the analyst and stated that this was merely jealousy at work, given Pakistan’s dismal and disappointing showing at the World Cup this year, which was enabling him to make such accusations.
