ISLAMABAD: Motorway Police has reportedly imposed a fine of Rs 20 million on those who use (HID) lights on motorway and national highway.

According to sources, traffic congestion and illegal parking violations in Motorway Chowk, Chowki No. 26 and Rawat area, lane violations, obstruction of traffic by heavy vehicles (especially dumpers) and motorways and Numerous complaints were lodged on the Pakistan Citizen Portal regarding illegal use of High Intensity Discharge (HID / LED) lights on highways.

In view of the complaints received on the Pakistan Citizen Portal, the National Highway and Motorway Police have launched a special campaign to curb the above mentioned violations in order to provide safe and uninterrupted travel facilities to the public. It is pertinent to mention here that the other stated complaints received on the Pakistan Citizen Portal have already been addressed. Not only a special campaign was launched against the illegal use of HID / LED lights but also legal action was taken against the drivers who did not comply during the enforcement campaign.

Illegal use of HID lights in vehicles and traffic violations have been reported. The National Highway and Motorway Police paid special attention to the campaign regarding the use of LED / HID lights in vehicles on motorway and national highway across the country.

During the campaign, National Highway and Motorway imposed a fine of Rs 20 million on 37,583 drivers across the country for illegal use of LED / HID lights and repatriated 3,592 vehicles from toll plazas. 11,610 LED / HID lights were taken off. The National Highway and Motorway Police is committed to facilitating the public through strict enforcement of traffic laws on motorways and national highways and road safety education.
