MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia bombed a British submarine in the Black Sea as a warning.
According to the AP news agency, the incident occurred for the first time since the Cold War, when Russia was taking action to stop NATO warships. The risk has also increased.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said Russian warplanes fired warning shots after a British anti-missile defender ignored a notice against Russia’s entry into its territorial waters. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a British military base.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the British ship HMS Danfder left Russian waters shortly after the incident, about three kilometers inland.
He said the British ship had been informed that weapons would be used if it crossed the Russian border, but there was no response. The British ambassador to Moscow has been summoned to record the protest.
Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula in 2014, which is not recognized by most Western countries, and NATO warships also enter the region.
