Moscow, 20th August: Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria continues to offer facilities to its ally Russia.

This facilitation is increasing day by day. Even within some Syrian circles, the idea is emerging that their country is temporarily under “Russian rule.”

A Russian official document has revealed that the Syrian government has approved Russia’s provision of additional land and land in Syria’s territorial waters. The goal is for Moscow to expand its base in Hamim.

Al-Arabiya reports that the agreement was signed by representatives of the two countries on July 21 and went into effect on July 30. It will apply to the land and sea area near Latakia province in northern Syria. It is home to the Russian-controlled Hamamim airbase.

The document also revealed that the land would be used to establish a medical treatment and rehabilitation center for Russian air force personnel. The area of this land will be about 20 acres inland and the same area in regional water. This area will be given to Russia temporarily without any compensation.

Meanwhile, the United States has reiterated its commitment to impose sanctions on Iran. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that the Trump administration is deeply disappointed and angry with Iran’s behavior.

He says his country will ensure an extension of the arms embargo on Iran in October. Earlier, US Ambassador to Iran Brian Hook had warned that the Iranian government posed a threat to the Iranian people and neighboring countries. He warned that if arms and other sanctions on Iran were not extended, it would have dire consequences.
